INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1
Toast the bread slices until golden brown. Optionally, spread a thin layer of butter on the slices before toasting for extra flavor.
Step 2
Cook the bacon slices in a pan over medium heat until crispy. Drain them on paper towels and set aside.
Step 3
Bottom layer: Lay two slices of toasted bread on a cutting board. Spread 1/2 tablespoon of mayonnaise on each slice.
On top of the mayo, place a few leaves of lettuce, followed by two slices of tomato. Season the tomatoes with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Add the turkey (or chicken) slices and then one slice of cheddar or Swiss cheese (if using).
Step 4
Place a second slice of toasted bread on top of the turkey and cheese layer. Spread this slice with 1/2 tablespoon of mayonnaise and a little Dijon mustard (optional).
Step 5
Add the crispy bacon slices on top of the middle layer, followed by another layer of lettuce and tomato. Again, season the tomatoes with salt and pepper.
Step 6
Place the final slice of toasted bread on top to complete the sandwich. Gently press down to compact the layers.
Step 7
Secure each sandwich with toothpicks, preferably one in each corner to keep everything in place. Using a sharp knife, cut the sandwich into quarters diagonally to form small triangular sections.
Step 8
Serve immediately with your favorite sides, like chips, fries, or a small salad.
Optional Variations:
Add avocado slices for a creamy twist.
Swap the turkey for ham or grilled chicken.
Use a flavored aioli instead of mayonnaise for more depth.
Make it a double-decker: Add an extra layer of filling by increasing the amount of meat and bacon, making it more indulgent.
